As utilities continue to expand and modernize their systems, the need for better above- and below-ground marking and location systems has never been greater. 

One of the biggest challenges facing utilities and their contractors is unmarked sewer laterals.  Crews have no practical way of finding them and are often prohibited from checking for them due to governmental no-cut policies.

Part of the long-term solution is requiring all new sewer laterals  to be installed with a location device such as marker balls or tracer wire.
